Muslim community losses during recent tragedies: California Fires, New Orleans Attack
California Fires:
We are truly heartbroken by the loss of seven lives and more than 10,000 structures during the ongoing disastrous fires in California forcing almost 180,000 people to flee their homes. What adds to the tragedy is the destruction of Masjid-at-Taqwa, serving in Altadena, CA since the 1970s that has been reduced to ashes.
Somewhere between eight and 10 of the mosque’s congregants have lost their homes to the Eaton Fire.
We encourage the mosques and Islamic schools in the neighboring safe regions to open their doors for those fleeing and help out in any way we possibly can. May Allah help and protect everyone out there, may the fires be extinguished quickly, and may He protect the region from any further devastation. Ameen.
A huge shout out to the brave first responders, firefighters, volunteers and neighbors stepping up and working tirelessly to help protect lives and communities across the region.

New Orleans Attack
We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life during the senseless New Orleans attack, injuring more than three dozens and killing fourteen innocent people. One of those confirmed killed was an 18 year old from the Muslim community - Kareem Badawi of Baton Rouge - youngest of three siblings, a student at the University of Alabama as reported by NBC.
Kareem was known to be a kind hearted boy whom was loved by everyone around him due to his friendly nature.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Kareem's family and to the rest of the victims' families shocked and shaken by this tragedy. We pray that Allah grant them all the strength and beautiful patience to bear this extremely sudden and tragic loss. Ameen.
