Dear Governor Shapiro,

The Muslim community in Pennsylvania is shocked, outraged, and deeply saddened by the cowardly and vicious attack on you and your family at the Governor’s Residence.

We continue to pray for your safety and that of your loved ones, and we can only imagine the anxiety and distress this incident has caused. Such violence has no place in our Commonwealth and must be unequivocally condemned by all.

It has not gone unnoticed that the Governor’s Residence has, over the years, opened its doors to leaders of diverse faiths, including during religious celebrations hosted by you and previous governors. The horrifying images of the damage inflicted upon this historic space have shaken our community and reinforced our concern that the rising tide of hateful rhetoric and the current political climate pose a grave threat to our shared vision of a peaceful, inclusive Pennsylvania.
